André Rieu

André Rieu is a Dutch violinist and conductor who has garnered tremendous international acclaim thanks to his concerts featuring the popular classical works of composers such as Johann Strauss. He made his breakthrough in 1994 with a performance of Shostakovich’s Second Waltz. In 2011, he performed a waltz composed by the film actor Anthony Hopkins. André Rieu regularly tours the world and frequently performs in the Netherlands as well. Every year, he organizes an annual concert in Maastricht, the city of his birth, on Vrijthof square and which is one of the highlights of the Maastricht events calendar.
